David Bates is a photographer from Austin, Texas who now resides in the Texas Hill Country. He first picked a camera up on his journey to become an Eagle Scout as a way to document the places he traveled to. At a young age he found a deep sense of love for nature and the animals that call it home.
He started using his camera as a way to capture memories of his first dog, Tux, when he lost a leg to cancer. During this time he took photography classes and honed his craft of animal photography.
It was a trip to Costa Rica in 2016 that reignited his passion for capturing the beauty of this place we call home and he has been fine tuning his creative approach ever since.
David combines his love of photography, travel, and exploration as an expression of how he sees the world. His admiration of animals allows him to capture an emotional side of them that most people have never seen. He loves a challenge and goes out of his way to find the perfect point where mother nature and our world collide by capturing unique and mesmerizing photos of planet earth.
Wherever his travels take him, his camera is in hand allowing him to capture images of solitude and grace that will satisfy your soul.
When he is not taking photos he can be found spending time with his three-legged co-pilots, Crumley and Nyx
